I will be a Mentor and other Songs
I will be a Mentor
One night I sat and wondered about the days ahead
I had a couple hours what could I do with them
I thought of all the children who had grown and moved on
I prayed to find an answer then slept and rose at dawn
Well I turned on the radio and heard somebody say
NO CHILD will be left behind please volunteer today
The words kept right on echoing their way right through my heart
I said I have a question how can I do my part
Suddenly this thought came to me
I WILL BE A MENTOR and listen carefully
Listen to a child who needs to be heard
I WILL BE A MENTOR a friend in deed
Now that I’ve decided my commitment is firm
If you have a heart for kids
I’m hoping one day you’ll say this
I WILL BE A MENTOR and listen carefully
Listen to a child who needs to be heard
I WILL BE A MENTOR a friend in deed
Now that I’ve decided my commitment is firm
I WILL BE A MENTOR
I WILL BE A MENTOR

No Child!
Can you imagine what it must be like
To be a child who’s left behind
I wonder if the fear’s too much to bear
I wonder if the child says is there anyone who cares
Is there anyone who cares
NO CHILD should feel abandoned deserted left behind
NO CHILD should feel second best that cuts it’s too unkind
All children are gifts from God precious in his sight
NO CHILD should be abandoned deserted left behind
I can’t imagine such a basic need
To be filled up with security
Is often lost or never even found
I wonder if the child thinks is there any love around
Is there any love around
NO CHILD should feel abandoned deserted left behind
NO CHILD should feel second best that cuts it’s too unkind
All children are gifts from God precious in his sight
NO CHILD should be abandoned deserted left behind
Kids need to know God loves them so
‘Cause people aren’t perfect
NO CHILD should feel abandoned deserted left behind
NO CHILD should feel second best that cuts it’s too unkind
All children are gifts from God precious in his sight
NO CHILD should feel abandoned deserted left behind
NO CHILD should be abandoned
NO CHILD should feel abandoned
NO CHILD!

Away From The Edge
It’s scary at the edge
A slide’s beyond the ledge
Kids need to turn away
We can show them the way
Let’s talk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Turn kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Walk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
And head them toward the center of their hearts
They can’t do it themselves
Truth is kids need some help
I’m glad I volunteer
I am someone who hears
Let’s talk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Turn kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Walk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
And head them toward the center of their hearts
I hope every girl and boy
Lives a life of peace and joy
Let’s talk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Turn kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Walk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
And head them toward the center of their hearts
Let’s talk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Turn kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
Walk kids AWAY FROM THE EDGE
AWAY FROM THE EDGE

You Heard Me
You sat next to me and listened
Sat next to me and cared
Finally knew what I’d been missing
I opened up and shared
All those scenes that were inside me
The parts that caused the pain
Seems like you were there to guide me
Straight through those nights and days
YOU HEARD ME and my world began to change
YOU HEARD ME soon I couldn’t find the pain
The minute I started to speak the fear began to leave
I spoke you listened YOU HEARD ME
All those hurts are now forgiven
Each day’s a brand new start
Now at last I’m truly living
I’m living in my heart
YOU HEARD ME and my world began to change
YOU HEARD ME soon I couldn’t find the pain
The minute I started to speak the fear began to leave
I spoke you listened YOU HEARD ME
Where would I be if you hadn’t seen
My life through my eyes
YOU HEARD ME and my world began to change
YOU HEARD ME soon I couldn’t find the pain
The minute I started to speak the fear began to leave
I spoke you listened YOU HEARD ME
I spoke you listened YOU HEARD ME

A Brighter Place
We reach out hope to help those in need
We reach out to our communities
Days that are gray begin to lighten
Fear starts to fade less people frightened
Hope fades the gray faith makes A BRIGHTER PLACE
Love’s light expands across this land and far away
Trust and compassion flow new friends are made
Love saves the day, we are A BRIGHTER PLACE
We reach out live to help those in need
We reach out and suddenly we see
Smiles on the faces of the children
Faith has replaced their bewilderment
Hope fades the gray faith makes A BRIGHTER PLACE
Love’s light expands across this land and far away
Trust and compassion flow new friends are made
Love saves the day, we are A BRIGHTER PLACE
I wonder if there’s shining in their eyes
I wonder if there’s softness in their sighs
Hope fades the gray faith makes A BRIGHTER PLACE
Love’s light expands across this land and far away
Trust and compassion flow new friends are made
Love saves the day, we are A BRIGHTER PLACE
Yes, A BRIGHTER PLACE
