Sample of the Content of a Peer Mentor Program
An outline, together with session aim/s, of a Peer Mentor Program, taken from a Peer Mentor’s Manual Contents page, gives an idea of how the 20 sessions (45 minutes each) are divided up in a group Program:
SESSION 1: TEAMWORK
to encourage students to get to know more about each other
to create a safe and friendly environment for future sessions
SESSION 2: CONNECTING
for group members to get to know one another better in a safe and secure environment
SESSION 3: A HAPPY SCHOOL
to build a positive school community
SESSION 4: MY ADULT CHEERLEADERS!
group members identify the different roles of adults they can approach for support
SESSION 5: FRIENDSHIP
to help group members feel positive about each other, develop an atmosphere of cooperation and consider the importance of trust in their relationships
SESSION 6: POSITIVELY ME!
for group members to see how they can make both themselves and others feel worthwhile and useful members of their communities

to consider how group members spend their time
